This current body of work explores the concept of formalism, as well as how the viewer interacts with the paintings. All of the paintings are created without any preconceived notions. This it enables not only the viewer but also myself to see the subject matter unbiased. It begins with the exploration of color and how it interacts with water and other mediums. The interaction allows the paint to move and flow and its fluidity causes me to choose whether or not to proceed. I rarely allow myself to manipulate the paint with the use of brushes; this helps to emphasize how paint interacts naturally with outside elements. The only mediums that physically move the paint in the early stage of the series are water, alcohol, and resin. As this series has progressed and developed further I have slowly begun to manipulate the paint. This allows the paint to have a less natural interaction with the mediums.
